Training Course Outline:

This half-day Legionella Awareness course for Duty Holders is the perfect course to help the 'Duty Holder' of the business understand the dangers of Legionella bacteria within their business and the importance of managing the bacteria safely within their site's water systems.

This informative half-day session has been devised from our highly recognised IOSH Approved Legionella courses and introduces the underpinning knowledge required by your staff to successfully contribute towards the organisation’s management programme.

During the session, Duty Holders will gain:

An introduction to Legionella bacteria and the importance of managing it well on their site, along with the legal implications of not managing it well.
An understanding of what Legionella bacteria actually is, how it enters a system, where it thrives and how it can ultimately be managed safely
A review of the latest outbreak statistics, outbreak history, fines and prosecutions - including any imprisonments for Duty Holders
A guide to the current legislative requirements – including how the law is structured, what the main requirements of the Approved Code of Practice (ACoP) L8 are and what guidance documents (HSG274 and HSG282) are available to help the Duty Holder's 'Responsible Person' (and their team) to manage the subject safely
Finally, an appreciation of a written scheme of control, the importance of their business auditing contractors and what to expect in terms of record keeping on their site.

In order to ensure that Duty Holders leave the course understanding the key fundamentals a brief multiple-choice assessment will be completed at the end of the session.

Who Should Attend?

This course is perfect for people that would be designated the overall Duty Holder for Legionella Management in a business. This could include being an Employer, the Self-employed or the Controller of the premises (i.e. a person in charge of the maintenance of the building) - This can include SIte Manager, General Manager or anybody else that ultimately has the overall accountability of a business.

This course has been used extensively (face-to-face) by organisations to train all of their Duty Holders (especially for multi-site organisations) for a large number of years and we are now proud to offer it as a virtual option.

Qualification:

By successfully completing this training course Duty Holders will gain an E-Certificate by ISAC UK Ltd in Legionella Awareness for Duty Holders.

This qualification can then also be used as a part-exemption towards obtaining a full IOSH Approved certificate in either:

1) Legionella Management for Responsible Persons (2-Day course) or
2) Legionella Control for Property Management (1-Day course)
