Training Course Outline:

This half-day Legionella Awareness course for Employees is the perfect course to help delegates understand the dangers of Legionella bacteria within their business and the importance of managing the bacteria safely within their site's water systems.

This informative half-day session has been devised from our highly recognised IOSH Approved Legionella courses and introduces the underpinning knowledge required by your staff to successfully contribute towards the organisation’s management programme.

During the session, delegates will gain:

An introduction to Legionella bacteria and the importance of managing it well on their site, along with the legal implications of not managing it well.
An understanding of what Legionella bacteria actually is, how it enters a system, where it thrives and how it can ultimately be managed safely.
A review of the latest outbreak statistics, outbreak history, fines and prosecutions to give perspective of what can happen if it goes wrong.
A brief guide to the current legislative requirements – including how the law is structured, what the main requirements of the Approved Code of Practice (ACoP) L8 are and what guidance documents (HSG274 and HSG282) are available to help their company to manage the subject safely.
Finally, an appreciation of some of the most common tasks that employees have to understake, such as, temperature monitoring, flushing and cleaning and disinfections and the 'Top Tips' for carrying these out correctly.

In order to ensure that delegates leave the course understanding the key fundamentals a brief multiple-choice assessment will be completed at the end of the session.

This course is perfect for employees within a business (undertaking simple tasks) and for anybody that wants a comprehensive Legionella Awareness session that they can underpin knowledge from. This could include auditors, water contractors, people new in role or Self-employed employees.

This course has been used extensively (face-to-face) by large organisations to give their employees a solid foundation of the subject that has then enabled them to move into roles such as Responsible Person and Deputy Responsible Person, through additional training, for a large number of years and we are now proud to offer it as a virtual option.

Qualification:

By successfully completing this training course delegates will gain an E-Certificate by ISAC UK Ltd in Legionella Awareness for Employees.

This qualification can then also be used as a part-exemption towards obtaining a full IOSH Approved certificate in:
